no one knows what it is

Yesterday morning I went to Change my 2 year old and found her legs were covered with weird spots. She did not have them the night before when I changed her before bed. We went to the doc and she said she had no idea what they were that they had never seen anything like it but most likely hives. So I have given her zyrtec twice and have been using benadryl cream and they are just getting worse now they are all over her arms too and about 5 on her torso. None on her face or head. Its not bug bites as she keeps getting more not just in bed and no one else has them. She has had nothing new and has not been outside. Does anyone know what this could be. She has no other symptoms.

Hi,
If she has no other symptoms, this is most likely an allergic rash. Hives are an itchy skin rash (red, raised bumps with a paler center). They can show up anywhere on your child's body. They usually appear suddenly and can disappear just as quickly.

Hives, also known as urticaria or wheals, can pop up in one area, fade, and appear in a totally different place within a matter of hours. This can keep happening until the condition resolves, which does happen. It could take anywhere from 2-10 days, depending on the trigger and your child's genetic predisposition.

Common triggers include food allergies, drugs, viruses, insect bites and stings, plants, exercise, heat, and cold. In some cases, the exact cause cannot be identified.
You can use cool compresses or a cool bath to reduce irritation and itching, but since hives are a reaction to histamine, antihistamines are usually the most effective treatment. Continue with Benadryl cream and you can also try Benadryl liquid every 6 hours until the hives fade.

She said if it were viral it would be on her trunk. I make my own laundry soap as we are sensitive to everything the only thing we have changed is that day we switched from store bought eggs from a farm could it cause this.

Is she scratching at the spots? If they don't seem to bother her, have you or your
doctor considered that it might be viral?

It could be like my problem--caused from the laundry detergent. Do you use Omomatic?
