became a "problem" when i noticed a strech mark like discoloration on my inner thigh that was about .5in long with a depression down the center of the discoloration. Doc said it looked fine. After frustration about three weeks of having this i foolishly started to toy with the area I noticed there was a little mass associated with the discoloration that felt like a pinhead underneath the skin . lesions are usually skin colored and they have depressed centers which when manipulated, a white sticky substance may come out. Microscopic evaluation of this white material may help ascertain the diagnosis.
"Clinical diagnosis is made on the basis of typical hemispherical, smooth, umbilicated, pearly lesions. Lesions are frequently present on the pubis, inner thighs or genitals
Molluscum inclusion bodies may be identified by microscopic examination of the stained crushed core of a lesion."
A complete medical and sexual history are important. Molluscum may have an atypical presentation. The microscopic evaluation may be able to help. Prevention of spread and transmission is important. Treatment of the skin condition is the best way to control spread. Keep the area dry and avoid sharing towels and other personal belongings with direct contact to the affected area.
