odd rash to body

odd rash to body

I have an odd rash that covers most of my extremities.  There are a few on my abdomen, 1 on my back.  None on my face.  It looks like welts, but when you look closely, it appears to be clusters of lesions.  They open up, but there is no drainage.  They are circular in form.  No itching or pain involved.  The lesions are about 1/2 the size of a dime.  I have a slight fever, 101.6, but my temp is normally about 100 degrees.  This has been occuring for about a week, the oldest lesions look very dry, but it appears that new lesions are forming under these.  I have had shingles in the past, but these do not seem the same.  I have seen my doctor, but she doesn't know what this is either.  She has prescribed prednisone, and oxistat.  I am somewhat concerned that this may be contagious, even though my husband has not developed any problem.  I work as a waitress.  I haven't taken any new meds, or had any dietary changes either.

I don't know what you have, but you need to see a doctor who does.  Rashes don't cause fevers of 101.6, which in an adult is more than slight.  If this is an infection of some sort, prednisone is not a good idea.  Since Oxistat is an antifungal cream, for which prednisone is hardly the appropriate drug, that suggest that your doctor is unsure as to what's going on.  I advise you to visit a walk-in clinic or emergency department or any place that can get you to see a doctor skilled in the diagnosis of skin disease.  I suggest you do this right away.

Best.

This sounds very similar to a rash my sister had about a year and a half ago.  We couldn't figure out what it was. Looked like chicken pox almost, but, her young daughter didn't develop it.  Then thought it could be shingles, but, no.  After much testing, was told it was pustular psoriasis.  To my horror ( I am in the skincare field )she was told to lie in a tanning bed a few times a week for just 2-5 min. at a time.  It worked!  I would definately consult a physician or dermatologist first.  She was also under lots of stress at the time.  Don't know if this may apply to you as well.  Let us know if this helps!  Good luck!
