palm of left hand

I have these small under the skin blisters that appear after a little itching in the area first. They are slighly sore and then after a couple days they turn to red pin point spots and the skin peels in a large area where the blisters were. It reaccurs only on the palm of the hand time after time. Any clues? Thanks

Thank you so much for taking the time to comment. It gave me a name to finally research the condition. I believe it could also be Palmoplantar Pustular Psoriasis?.. due to the red pin point dots that form under the skin before peeling. Treatment I believe would be the same for either condition? It also doesnt seem to be a condition that is easy to get rid of. My case is not what I would call severe at this time but has gotten worse since it started about 3 years ago. Again your time was appreciated and have a great new year!

Hello,

Your symptoms are suggestive of pompholyx. Wash the areas several times with fresh water. Do not use any cosmetic products at the sites. You can apply some calamine lotion at the rash as it will help in soothing the skin. You can take some OTC oral antihistamine medications like Benadryl or Claritin and see if it helps.

For mild-moderate symptoms a weak steroid may be used (e.g. hydrocortisone as dermacort), whilst more severe cases require a higher-potency steroid (e.g. clobetasol propionate, fluocinonide). But they are available under prescription and should be taken only after consulting a dermatologist. Symptoms  can be exacerbated by dryness of the skin. Use good quality moisturizers to prevent moisture loss from the skin.

If they prove unsucvessful, then Light treatment: UVA-1, PUVA, Grenz rays, Low Level Light Therapy using a Red + NIR (LED) combination can be used. For recalcitrant cases, corticosteroids combined with immunosuppressants may be used. In addition, you can apply aloe vera to the hands. It will help.

I hope it helps. Take care and regards.
