pea sized bump on side of calf

So I noticed a relatively small pimple sized raised area on my left calf a couple months ago. It was odd, but didn't hurt at all, so I didn't think about it too much. About a week ago I noticed it began to look more irritated and red and was tender to the touch and somewhat swollen. I've never had anything like this happen to me before, and am not really sure how concerned I should be. Anyone have any ideas? I think i'm sufficiently worried about it to seek medical attention soon. I was just hoping to get some more information as to what might be the cause in the meantime. Thanks for your input! I took a photo of it, but it looks like there isn't a way to attach photos? >

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
It can be an infected hair follicle, boil or cyst. Apply cool compresses on the area and take bath with cool(not very cold) water. Do not scrub your skin or shave your skin and use a soft towel and gently pat your skin dry. You can apply antibiotic cream such as Neosporin or Mupirocin also. If symptoms persist then you may need oral antibiotics.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
