peeling of hands and feet

myhusband is going crazy with itching of hands and feet. Nothing seems to give relief. Has been on prednisone every other day without them helping. Also a  multitude of creans and lotions.  Both hands and feet have been peeling for about 18 month.

Your husband may have any one of these disorders: skin allergy/sensitivity, contact dermatitis, eczema, pompholyx, or pitted keratolysis.

Each of these would require a separate treatment and the doctor can best help you. However at home it would be best that the skin is kept dry and unexposed to more such pressures. Using Vaseline or any other petroleum jelly to defend the skin is also an idea. Further for itching he should use anti histamines. Using a lot of cosmetics, lotions on the skin may not be the best idea. there may be cross reactions in this case.

Further, if there is an extensive reactions, reddening, pain or recurrence, it would be best that you consult your doctor promptly and get this corrected.
