peeling vulva

by LookingForAnswersToday, Aug 24, 2009 06:04PM
So for 1 and a half month I have been dealing with this issue.  My symptoms were itching and burning of the genitalia, which I had assumed at the time was a vaginal yeast infections.  So I did many treatments of Monistat, which helped, but the symptoms always came back.  So I started using Monistat externally only on the vulva and it helped alot, until recently.  The burning and itching came back while I was applying the Monistat externally.  Oh, also was experience an itchy anus too.  I also did a couple of treatments of Dyflucan, which also seemed to help, but of course I was using the external Monistat at the same time.  But eventually the Monistat seemed to stop working.  So now I feel "raw" and it does burn too and also in between the outer vulva and inner vulva, I notice peeling of the skin.  When I get out of the shower, you can see the dead skin because it turns white and you can peel it off.  So what is this?  I just had a culture done last week and it came back negative so the PA of dermatology wants me to see my gynocologist.  So if it is not fungus, what is it?  Could I have Hep C or something like that.  I do have HPV, could that be related?  Could it be Lichen Sclerosus?  But from what I read, it doesn't burn. Should my Gyno do a biopsy?

The other interesting symptom that I had and am still dealing with is scaling/peeling of the nipples.  When I was breastfeeding, I developed what I believed to be a yeast infection of the nipples.  It began to hurt when nursing (this was the 10 month of nursing) so at first, the docs said to just put lanolin on it, which made it worse.  So a friend of mine said it could be thrush/yeast and to put Nystatin on it, so I did and in 24 hrs, the pain was gone.  Unfortunately, I only continued to use the Nystatin sparingly and it came back and this time I experience shooting pain in my milk ducts and burning in my back, so the doc put my on Dyflucan.  I was on Dyflucan for 6 weeks, but into the 4th week on this medicine, my nipples got red bumps all over them and I got the pain back and it was itchy and burning and began to peel.  But the doc couldn't believe that it was fungus since I had already been on Dyflucan for 4 weeks.  Eventually I quit nursing and took the oral Lamil.  I was on it for a month and a half.  And while it did begin to help my toenail fungus, it did nothing for the burning in my back and the peeling/scaling of my nipples, although I tried using topical Lotrimin and Lamisil, which helped the rash go away, but the scaling/peeling came back and has at times even spread to my arm pits where my arm pits will get itchy and begin to peel.  I am on the "Cadida Diet" and taking many anti-candida supplements.

Are the breast issue and the peeling vulva related?  Also, by the way I still have what could be a foot fungus too? thick skin on my heals that will crack and bleed and thick skin in between my big and next to big toe.  I have to use the PedEgg everyday and apply antifungal oils on them. Anyway, can anyone give me any clues?  I am going to my gynocologist next week (they don't want to see me until I am off my cycle)

Thanks
