penis infection

hello dr., am 20 yr old.. and 3 weeks ago i noticed some rashes near testis on legs either side... even i had a red patch on the glans (glands) of my penis.. then i consulted a doctor in my locality. he diagnoised it as a fungal infection. he prescribed some oinments and a tablet. oinment-surfaz sn+ and t bact.... and he suggested me to use t bact on the penis and surfaz sn+ on the sides of my leg near testis.. aftr a week i can c improvement in the penis and those rahes on legs... am trying to be hygiene as much as possible.. still the red pacth has not cured completely.. and the rashes too... am much depressed bcoz of this... 2 days i go i notice the skin of penis getting dried and sore and scaly... pls suggest me a good treatment.. ur sugesstion ll be appreicaited a lot...

Hello,
The symptoms are suggestive of fungal infection. Please keep the area clean and apply some topical antiseptics. Also wear loose-fitting cotton clothing and use an antibacterial soap or mild soap like dove. Avoid any kind of cosmetics. Topical zinc oxide cream like Sudocrem, Desitin are very helpful(apply with a paper towel and not directly with hands). Application of local antifungal cream(terbinafine, clotrimazole, econazole, ketoconazole, miconazole) and oral antifungal drugs are the mainstay of treatment. If the symptoms persist then please get it evaluated from a dermatologist.
