penis rash

by davey24, Mar 12, 2002 12:00AM
I have developed a blotchy red skin condition on my penis head. When my penis is placid it looks quite normal but when erect it is blotchy and red. It stings and is very irritable. It first developed after I had slept with a women, so I went to see my GP. He gave my cream for thrush. After two weeks there was no change so I went back to see him. He recommended that I go to a GUM clinic which I did and received the all clear. My GP then took his own swap, which came back normal. He has since given me Daktacort ointment, which I have, been using again to no avail. This has been going on now for four months and it is as bad as ever. I have not changed anything i.e. washing powders etc. I have only used condoms once in the four months and have never had a problem with them before. To me there is a definite infection but I keep getting the all clear. It is stingy and irritating me all the time. It dose not hurt when I urinate.

I am at my wits end now as no condition has been determined but it is making my life hell. The only thing that I could put it down to was sleeping with this women but the GUM clinic gave me the all clear.

After I have had an erection my penis is twice as sore as usual
and this lasts for days.

Please help…

You are describing balanitis, eczema of the penis.  This irritation canindeed be maddening, but is not infectious.

If I were you, I would try non-prescription (in the US) hydrocortisone 1%, twice-daily for 3-5 days.  If that brings relief, it would tend to confirm the diagnosis.  Armed with that information, I would then contact a physician for evaluation and perhaps a prescription for something a bit stronger.

I cannot explain why this problem should have begin just now.  Nor is it certain that you will always have it.  But while it's there, you should have something available to mitigate the symptoms simply and safely.

Best.

i have a small rash at the base of my penis shaft.  It has just shown itself yesterday.  it itches, and I think it may be there from dry masturbation, of masturbating with soap.
Please help

As long as I can remember I have had some small skin-tone colored bumps around the base of my penis, they are not painful, and I had them before I was ever sexually active.  I remember it started with just a small ring of bumps near the bottom, but now it seems to have started spreading on the underside of my penis.  I know that it is not an STD, but my biggest fear is that a woman will notice and think it is an STD.  Is this natural, do other men have this, will it go away, is there anyway to make it go away, is there something that Im doing that is causing it to happen???  This sucks.
