pennis head major portion has become red.

pennis head major portion has become red.

I am suffering from pennis head redness. I am having this problem from 3 to 4 years onwards. Initially a small portion of the pennis head was dark red in colour. It might have started with small pricks like things. Now that was not there. Major portion of head shaft has become red. Even the enclosed covering skin in side portion was also become red. Just now, at the time of cleaning of my pennis head, slight blood started coming from the pennis head. I am not to touch the enclosed skin portion inside. It is giving pain also. I used to apply honey on the head of the pennis. This is some what reducing the effect of infection. Some times it has cured also. At times I used to observe little aggravation of redness if I go for maturbashion. Please help me what to do in this situation. I am a 54 years man.

Hello,
From the symptoms and site of the rash, pityriasis rosea is the first possibility that comes to mind. Pityriasis rosea lesions are not necessarily itchy. Other possibilities are atopic dermatitis, erythrodermic psoriasis, pityriasis rubra pilaris and annular erythemas. I suggest you to get a biopsy skin done to confirm the diagnosis.
It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.

Hello,

Sorry replied to an earlier quetion first.
One of the possibilities which needs to be evaluated is balanitis penis. It is an inflammation of the glans (glands) penis. Oral course of antibiotics is needed. In addition, don’t use any cosmetics on the penis, instead use some topical antimicrobials like Bacitracin or Lotrimin. Also corticosteroids and topical immunosuppressants can be used but they are available under prescription. Also retract the foreskin daily and soak in warm water to clean penis and foreskin. In case the symptoms persist then please consult a urologist/dermatologist for evaluation and antimicrobials and steroids prescription.
