perioral and lip rash

I have had eptisodes of an itching rash around my mouth and on my lips over the last several years. They do not always happen during my menses, but tend to coincide with them when they do occur. It usually starts off with a very small area of roughness or bumps over my upper lip area and spreads to the rest of my lips and areound the mouth. Very itching. I eat healthy, have no medical problems and don't take any medications except for vitamines. What could it be? How to treat it? Thanks.

I went to my dermatologist with my lip problem, she said its perioral dermatitis, she prescribed me with doryxDR, told me to take it in half, like split it in half, but i made a research about it and said that it should be taken  in whole. Please let me know if it is safe to take it in half and i also have stomach ulcer that everytime i take antibiotic i get stomach irritation.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
I cannot confirm anything witout examination but it can be perioral dermatitis. Perioral dermatitis is a chronic papulopustular and eczematous facial dermatitis. Treatment consists of oral antibiotics and anti-inflammatory drugs. A mild soap or soap substitute, such as Dove or Cetaphil should be used for washing. Scrubbing should be avoided.

If the symptoms are not controlled by topical antibiotics, then oral antibiotics may be needed. Please consult your dermatologist and discuss this with him. Also then get the other differentials of eczema and contact dermatitis ruled out.

Hope it helps. Take care and do keep me posted on how you are doing or if you have any additional queries. Warm regards.
