, red raised areas all over my face, painful, crusty, yellow in color exudate around my mouth. I was also diagnosed with impetigo and started on SoluMedrol pac and a course of Cefazolin. What are your thoughts on this diagnosis. The MD had never seen this reaction before. I am now wondering if I am going to be more sensitive to the sun. I live in colorado and love to spend time in the outdoors running, hiking... i always wear at least 15 spf on my face and always have on a hat for sun protection. Do you think it would be a good idea to get a second opinion on the current diagnosis?
How are you? Impetigo is a common skin infection that usually presents with a single or possibly many blisters filled with pus; itching blister or rash. Diagnosis is based mainly on the appearance of the skin lesion and a culture of the skin. It is important that the skin is washed several times a day, preferably with an antibacterial soap, to remove crusts and drainage. If there are still doubts, a second opinion from another dermatologist is fine to help ease the anxiety and worries.
