My Dermatologist then began perscribing 75mg of doxycyline, twice a day. i have taken this for a while and recently stopped, due to the potential side affects of doxycycline taken over a period of time. The rosacea seems to have gotten better. I do drink red wine in the evenings and drink coffee and hot tea throughout the day. Do you have any additional thoughts on what could be causing the roascea/break outs on my scalp? And how to treat them? Currently, I use metro gel in the mornings on my nose
You should consult your doctor to rule out the possible causes of your symptoms including hypothyroidism, vitamin deficiencies, adrenal insufficiency, etc.
Folliculitis reflects infections around the hair follicles, most often involving the sebaceous gland. The bacteria that cause these infections reside on the skin. Folliculitis can be caused by scratching of the skin, breaking the skin surface making it vulnerable to infection, or glands that are very oily with the openings of the hair follicle blocked with sebum. Good washing and hygiene techniques usually work well to prevent the process.
You should reconsult with your dermatologist about the medications and if you need any investigations.
Let us know if you need any other information nad post us about how you are doing and what your doctor advises.
