please i need ur help

dear sir/mam...
my mother is 59 yrs old. she had few months ago adiscoloration of both of her big toe nails"the left one spread longitudinally acroos the nail about 0.7 cm width and the right toe have discoloration centeral at the nail bed max width is 1.2 cm and max height laterally 0.6 cm "
we consult adermatologist in our country he said that since they are bilateral so it's unlikely to be a malignant melanoma and no need for biopsy.
about amonth ago another discoloration appeared on her left 3rd toe so please can you confirm the diagnosis and is it true what the doc. said.

Hello,
There are many conditions which can cause toe nail discoloration. Mostly, discolored nails are a result of infections with common fungi that can be found in the air, dust, and soil. Pseudomonas is a type of bacteria that infects the nail bed and result in a greenish color to the nails. Red or black nails may result from a hematoma (a collection of blood) under the nail as a result of trauma. Apart from that, medical conditions like diabetes, liver, kidney or heart disorders can also cause discoloration of toenails and aa detailed and through complete body check up is needed.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided.
