podofilox side effect?

by denvertogo, Mar 01, 2006 12:00AM
One night I was wearing jeans as a woman was sitting on my lap and causing friction in my genital area. Afterwards I noticed an open wound which almost immediately scabbed over. The surrounding area became discolored and sensitive. A week later I was diagnosed with warts. I used podofilox cream and, stupidly, used the cream on the discolored area. It has been almost 5 months and the discolored area on the shaft of my penis is still discolored and still sensitive. Any friction (such as masturbation) causes pain, swelling, and redness. I will not be able to see a dermatologist for many months and was hoping there is something I could do about it. I have tried aloe and taking "Lysine" supplements but nothing has worked. I even take a multi-vitamin and eat healthy. Will this ever heal?

Friction (and podofilox) can cause irritation, which in turn can lead to extra pigmentation.  However, if it were just discoloration, you shouldn't be having pain.  I don't think you have an STD, but I think you need to be seen by a doctor.  That shouldn't take months.  Meantime, avoid friction and apply nothing stronger than vaseline.

By the way, getting warts a week after the kind of contact you describe sounds coincidental.

Take care.
