. The small yellow spots are caused by an overgrowth of the sebaceous glands. Fordyce spots are sebaceous glands without hair follicles. The cause for it is still unknown, but there seems to be a generic link. The papules are present at birth but only become prevalent when the child reaches puberty.

i really need your help
will they go away????
During puberty I got fordyce's spots at the base of my shaft/scrotum, but now I'm 25 and they've been spreading up my shaft! I heard treninoin gel may help. More importantly what could cause this? Thanks.
I've also had Fordyce spots on my shaft since puberty, but I'm 21 now and just noticed them on the head of the penis and foreskin within the last month or two. I only notice them when I pull the skin tight though.
