possible herpes or something else?

by allew, Mar 14, 2006 12:00AM
hi,

about 11 weeks ago i had unprotected vaginal sex with a woman of unkown status.  anyway,  5 days ago i started to have this mild burning sensation on the shaft of my penis and around my scrotum.  Ive looked up all the herpes information on the net and havent seen or experienced any bumps, lesions, redness, fever, since the exposure...i look completely normal except for the mild burning sensation (which kind of goes of and on all day).  So, could this be a possible herpes infection?? I thought it might just be jock itch but im not sure.  I was tested for all other std's a month back and everything came back negative.  ive been having a lot of anxiety about this the past few days and was wondering if you could shed some light on the subject?

thanks

Just burning without a rash sounds like irritation or anxiety, not herpes.  If the symptoms persist, as the doctor who ordered the STD tests to have a look.  Needless to say, avoid unprotected sex in future to minimize this kind of worry.

Best.

i forgot to mention that i exercise regularly and prespire a lot....i thought that maybe poor personal hygiene related to this could be the cause.

hey,

i went to a dermatologist and he said it was irritated skin and gave me hydrocortisone 2.5%. anyway, ive been applying it for 2 days now and it seems to be causing more of a cool burning were i applied it.  is this normal for the first few applications until your skin gets used to it?  im not sure if its the irritation getting worse or if its from the ointment.

thanks
