post birth control skin yuckiness!!! help please if you can.

hello-
I am a 27 year old healthy female. I had been taking birth control for approximately 12 years. Recently I stopped taking birth control, because I work with people with brain injuries and more and more women were having strokes that were later linked to birth control. And, its expensive.
Since then, the skin on my face, back, etc. is seemingly breaking out in various forms of pimples. All annoying. I don't remember the last time I have a back zit! anyway, my question is: can I get the benefits of birth control, with out actually taking birth control?? Any advice is much appreciated. thanks
