prurigo de hide nodularis

i have prurigo de hide nodularis, constant etching  and pain it`s a torment, i tried everything, but no cure, what can i do to alleviate this curse?thank you for a prompt answer.

Hi,

Prurigo nodularis is very hard to treat, but current therapies include steroids, vitamins, cryosurgery, thalidomide and UVB light. In the event that staphylococcus or other infection is present, antibiotics have proven effective.

A physician may administer a strong dose of prednisone, which will almost immediately stop the itch/scratch cycle. However, cessation of steroids allows relapse to occur, usually within a few weeks.

Cryotherapy with liquid nitrogen helps reduce pruritus and flatten lesions.

It would be advisable to consult a skin specialist for your symptoms and a proper clinical examination.

Hi, my mother is strugging with PN for 2 years on here head she is 64 years old and iam very worried about here.  She is not sleeping or eating much do to constant itching.  We live in Montana very limited on Docs here can u help suggest a Doc that specilizes in PN.   Or any ideas that may help her.  She has tried a few treatments nothing helping.

I am also suffering from prurigo nodularis.  I am itchy, and I scratch until I bleed.  The scars are terrible.  I have been to a dermatologist, she treats the areas with injections of cortizone, and topical oinments and creams.  
I do no want to scratch and peel off the skin, but I cannot.
Is this an infectious disease?  Should I be seeing someone other than a dermatologist?  I've also seen a psychriast due to depression.  Both Doctors thought that possibly I am "self harming"  but they aren't sure.  I am also suffering from anxiety.
Can some one please advise?  Please help!
