rash on buttocks

I had been working outside in 85 degree weather and remember pulling my pants up with dirty work gloves with chemicals and dirt on them multiple times. Subsequently I have noticed a rash on my upper buttocks. The area was extremely itchy 6 hours later and developed into red bumps. The itching has subsided and the bumps have gone away in about 7 days  but I still have some tenderness in my buttocks below where the rash was. Also the rash seemed to dry up but no oozing or scabbing could this be STD related???

Hi

This does not seem associated with the rash on your buttocks. These bumps you have noted on your penis do not seem to be sexually related. Applying topical medications on the rash may help alleviate the symptoms. As for the penile bumps, just continue to observe these first. Refrain from touching the rash unnecessarily as these may cause further irritation .

Thanks for the reply. The reason I'm so concerned is that about 1 month earlier I had some irritation on my penis head after intercourse with my wife. It was red and raised but looked like inflamed glands. They did not itch or hurt I applied 1% cortisone and it went away in three days. Is this cause for concern??? I have talked to my dr. but he said come back if it shows back up but not to worry.  They never were ulcererated or scabed but it was strange when I woke up and saw a red area of what looked like inflamed glands. Then I have been googling and the first thing I see is herpes. I do have very sensative skin shuld I be concerned??

Hi

I do not think this is sexually related. You have mentioned of exposure to certain chemicals and there also appeared to be a direct contact with the chemicals and the areas affected. I suggest you apply Fluocinonide cream 0.05% once daily over the area and see if there is improvement in two days time. If no response is noted, then you may need to have this assessed by your doctor.

For the meantime ,wash the area with a mild cleanser only. Do not pick or scratch to avoid infections. Apply the cream thinly over the area. Make sure there are no cuts , wounds or discharge when you apply the medications.
