red bump on head of penis

by bshotts420, May 21, 2009 12:36AM
I have had a bump about the size of an eraser on the head of my penis for about 2 months now.  Its kind of shiny, does not hurt, sometimes it looks like it is getting better and then doesn't.  I read someone's article earlier that describes it exactly and the doctor or whom ever said it was friction.  I got it after having oral sex from my girlfriend for about 20 minutes and I noticed that her teeth would sometimes rub on that area.  I am pretty sure that it is friction but the only thing that concerns me is that I have had it about two months.  I would really like to get rid of it some how and I don't have med. insurance or have $100 to go see a doctor.  I have been looking all over the internet and can only find one thing that describes what I have and that is the friction mark.  I am fairly active in my sexual life and think that may be why it is not healing.  Please let me know what you think and if there is anything that I can do.

Hello,
Without examination, confirmation of a diagnosis is tough but it can be dermatitis, rash due to friction rub with clothes, dermatitis (atopic, contact, allergic),excessive sweating causing sweat dermatitis or balanitis(due to an underlying infection (bacterial and fungal as well as other organisms) .Even genital warts cannot be ruled out as it is spread through direct skin-to-skin contact during oral, genital, or anal sex with an infected partner.

You may try calamine lotion on the rash. You should also maintain hygiene and try to keep the area clean and dry, wear loose-fitting cotton clothing. Also use an antibacterial soap or mild soap like dove.Avoid any kind of cosmetics. You can also use a barrier cream with zinc oxide paste or a mild steroid cream like dermacort on the rash. Also try avoiding friction rub to the penis for some days and take some oral anti-inflammatory like Ibuprofen or Diclofenac.
If the lump persists then it will be best to get it evaluated from a dermatologist.Genital warts have to be ruled out.

I hope that helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing or if you have any additional doubts.Kind regards.

I dont think that it would be genital warts b/c there isnt one anywhere else on me or my girlfriend.  Also i forgot to mention that we have been together for over 2 years and she is the only woman i have been with and i am pretty sure she hasnt been with anyone else.  I'll try the lotion and see if that works.  I am not sure if it is a rash or not,  but i cant find anything about what i have out there.  i think that is weird.  Thanks for writing.
