red bumps in pubic area

I have noticed lately that I have been getting red bumps in my pubic area.  at first i thougth there were a few pimples but then there were a lot of them, almost like a rash was starting to form.  The bumps grew to about the size of an average pimple but none of them were where a hair was.  they are red and from what I have read so far they seem to be like molluscum contagiosum.  Is there anything i can get at the store for this?  Also are there any other suggestions to what might be another idea as to what i have?  I am mostly worried about this spreading and also if i need to really worry about it or to just let it go and see what happens.
