hi
I began about a week ago to itch and have spots which i assumed were mozzie bites but then they changed to a flat red spot with a rash around them which made me wonder if they were mozzie bites at all and something else instead. The spot does not protude it has flattened to a red rash mark and they appear on the back of my leg my shoulder and under my neck my under arm above my elbow and my ankles could this be scabies as i hear it is going around.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi,

Due to the length of time these lesions been present, this could be  a type of chronic dermatitis. Are there other signs or symptoms present? Contact dermatitis can be due to irritants, such as excessive bathing, soaps and tight socks, or to a specific allergic reaction. If the cause is uncertain, a dermatologist may be able to identify the specific allergens by patch testing.  Other conditions such as conditions related to thyroid diseases, psoriasis, dry skin or vasculitis needs to be ruled out. It would be best to have this evaluated by your doctor. Management depends on identifying the particular pattern of dermatitis or other skin condition. Keep the area clean and dry. Try to avoid scratching to prevent secondary infection.

Take care and regards.
