red mark on face cheek - never goes away

I have a red blotch/mark on side of face that never goes away.  It gets better slightly but then flares up and can scab over if I scratch it, as it can get itchy.  My worry is that it could be cancerous.  It just appeared one day several months ago but never completely clears up.  It's like I've scraped my face.  Anyone help?

Skin problems tend to pop up overnight...or that is how it is perceived by those of us who get them!

See a dermatologist as soon as you can.

No one can diagnose a description.  

I have a host of skin issues.  The most tenacious is acne/rosacea, which is now under control...but will flare up from time to time.
