red patches

i have small red patches on my leg and upper thigh

You have not mentioned whether these red patches are itchy or since when they have been present. It can be contact dermatitis, sweat dermatitis, eczema, psoriasis etc and for confirming the diagnosis I suggest you to consult a dermatologist and get a clinical examination done.
