red raised area on penis head

by maineman207, Sep 09, 2008 11:10AM
Hello Dr Rockoff

I have a question about a slightly raised red spot on the side of the head of my penis it is less than a 1/4 inch and shaped sort of like a foot ball I also have a few other red dots on the other side about the size of the head of a pin.  the spot doesn't hurt, itch, or anything else for that matter it just is there, I am not sure when it appeared for sure but I know its been there for months. I can stretch out the skin and it dissapears, but when I let it go its back again , it almost looks like if you scrape your skin and the skin heals back but looks different from the rest of your skin.  I have tried the vinegar test, and it doesn't turn white and it doesn't look like a cauliflower lesion.

I masturbate almost everyday and the last sexual encounter I had was about a year ago and that was oral sex and fingering nothing else.

I'm very nervous, could this be herpes or HPV it doesnt look like any of the pictures, I'm just getting into a relationship now and don't want to cause her to have any of these things.

your help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks again

This does not sound like herpes or HPV.  It sounds like irritation, probably aggravated by masturbation and self-examination.  Please leave the spot alone, avoid friction, apply moisture lotion once a day, and see a doctor in person if it doesn't go away in 3 weeks.  But I think it will.

Take care.
