red round rash

Dear doc,


I have a rash on both of my wrists and they are very red and round. I went to a doctor and they put me on staroid cream for 7-10 days it went away but it came back and it is worse than before. I was wondering if you knew what i have and what is the treatment?

From the symptoms that it is red, round and itchy, it can be nummular dermatitis, ringworm or granuloma annulare. Granuloma annulare presents as a ring of small bumps which may burn or turn itchy. Mostly no treatment is required but in severe cases topical and oral steroids may be needed. Please consult a dermatologist in that case.

My sincere advice would be to get it examined from a dermatologist as treatment is specific for all and diagnosis has to be made first. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided.
