i know this topic is old but i wanted to help anyone searching the internet who might read this.  i had this same problem for over a year.  i went to clueless dermatologists.  nothing worked except aloe vera from the actual plant leaf (not the bottled version in stores) applied topically maybe 2x per day though mine seemed to go away immediately!!  i bought my plant from home depot.  good luck!!

Good idea - you may also try considering a second opinion from a different dermatologist.  I had gotten a solution from one doc - and the cream worked really well but kept coming back stronger.  Turns out (after going to a high end dermatology office/doc) that not only was the cream incorrect, it was causing the inflammations and rash to return.  The new derm was the one who prescribed a strong course of antibiotics and educated me on how important it was to get as far away as possible from the cremes (which had steroids in them.)  Turns out the creams made me have this awful rash in the same areas for a year & half!  Keep this in mind and consider a new doc!  Good luck!

on my nex appointment i am planning to really demand solution cos its been 2 years now and i am tired off it all....i am using isotrex wich he priscribed and then told me to stop it but its only cream that helps, i am applaying it just in chin line not whole area...smell is gone and redness really getting lighter but i am afraid if i stop it its gonna come back...redness really hard to see  if i am not putting all thous creams they giving me..plus i stop using all my colognes thinking that red skin might be alergic reaction to them, cos i was using deferent one every day...will see.
thanks for sugestions:)

Sorry to read this - skin issues can be a nightmare!  Definitely make sure you go to a new dermatologist - they specialize with skin issues and can nail a solution so much faster than a general prac or others that don't specialize in this.  (Try a dedicated derm office.)  Check into dermatitis - typically takes a round of antibiotics and gel to apply apprx 2x/day for quite some time.  Dermatitis can be aggressive and take time to manage.  The gel will be on-going but if you do indeed have dermatitis and tried other solutions, some solutions aggravate the problem and the dermatitis actually comes back with a vengeance!  If any of the creams they have given you have contained ANY steroidal ingredient, this could (definitely) be part of the problem.  A good dermatologist will be able to offer other options to explore once they diagnose what this really is of course!  Good luck ~

if it continues ask or demand Dr to take a sample.( a small scrape) of skin from chin-line and have it cultured...it may show what the virus/bacteria/is,,,it may not but it is a chep test your insurance will cover worth trying.

why the bad smell in chin line, what did Drs say? only skin condition other than ulcers that causes foul order I can think of is yeast infection, Yes you can get it anywhere, women often get it under breasts.

You have tried moisture therapy,,,try a bit of peroxide on a cotton ball to cleanse for a few days..if condition worsens discontinue and phone Dr...just seems worth trying to dry it out to see what happens.
