red sores on face once a month

by paulk100, Apr 23, 2008 12:58PM
My daughter is 40yrs old and for some while has frequently had red sores break out on her face. Needless to say it causes consideral distress. She feels it's caused by her periods and stress but I hope there is some thing that she can do to avoid or mitigate It ? Can you offer any kind of advice?

Hi,

For how long has she been experiencing this?

Red sores over the face will have acne, a fungal infection, dermatitis and rosacea as differentials. Dermatitis and fungal infections may present as a red rash that may be itchy and scaly. Rosacea and acne may be difficult to distinguish based on external appearance. However, rosacea usually presents with a sensation of warmth or flushing.Has your daughter mentioned anything similar?

Do the sores persist or do they come and go?

Also, would you know what triggers this ?  Does food or weather and heat trigger flare ups?

How would you describe the sores?
