redness and flakey skin on penis head

I am a 59 year old male. Years ago I was diagnosed with a yeast infection on my penis head from my now ex-wife. The problem is somewhat different now. I have a very red shiney area on the top of my penis head, and every week or so it 'sheds' what appears to be flakey skin. There is no pain or discomfort, but obviously now that I'm sexually active, this does not make for good intimacy. I always wear a condom but a few months ago one broke and we had skin-to-skin contact.

This appears to be balanitis. Balanitis is a skin condition that involves the head of the penis. It may involve a fungal or bacterial infection .In some cases, it may also be a dermatitis. What you have now may still be a fungal infection. Fungal or yeast infections are chronic that is they may be present for quite sometime. They are also recurrent, that is , given the proper triggers they may recur.
You may have this assessed by your doctor. The flakes or scales may be evaluated microscopically to ascertain the presence of a yeast or fungal infection.
