scabies

by rahi854, Jul 05, 2008 07:05PM
Hi,

I had scabies before and is treated now. I have seen scabies pictures from the website below and have some questions.

1) http://www.lib.uiowa.edu/hardin/md/dermnet/scabies5.html
2) http://www.dermnet.com/image.cfm?imageID=13242&moduleID=10&moduleGroupID=266&groupindex=15&passedArrayIndex=187
3) http://www.dermnet.com/image.cfm?imageID=13151&moduleID=10&moduleGroupID=266&groupindex=8&passedArrayIndex=99
4) http://www.dermnet.com/image.cfm?imageID=13201&moduleID=10&moduleGroupID=266&groupindex=12&passedArrayIndex=149

I am recovered from scabies but just under the head of penis, I have skin ring (risen skin) just like as shown in pictures above. I asked from Dermatologist who said that he doesn't know why it is and what caused it. He said may be it could be because of scabies.
My scabies treatment is completed 3 weeks before. Now I am not taking any medicine.

Can you please advise me is this because of scabies infection or something else?
If it is how long its gonna take to recover it?

Hi

This risen skins may be postinflammatory condition caused by scabies .If they are hard or plaquelike, then they may be secondary to fibrosis which may present in areas wherein inflammation and infection have been present for a long time. If you have completed your medications and skin scrapings in the area did not show any scabetic mites, then this may not need urgent intervention.

Observe the skin condition as this should  resolve given time.
