scalp burning

scalp burning

my scalp felt like it was burning for about 1 1/2 months. I have small lesions on my scalp that sting.  They seem to be underneath the skin.  The doctors can't see anything except for some broken hairs and when i first got it they saw some red spots.  Cortisone cream seems to make it worse.  If i put anything on my scalp except baby shampoo it stings.  This is now on my face around my hairline and forehead.  I did color my hair a few days before it started burning.  I took hydroxazine for a month for the burning.  It seemed to work but the lesions are still there and very painful just under my skin.  Can you please help.

Hello,
Since the symptoms appeared after using the hair color, so it can be due to irritant contact dermatitis to the hair color or fixed drug eruption. FDE or fixed drug eruption may fade slowly and so may take a long time to go away. Although they resolve spontaneously but an oral antihistamine (eg, hydroxyzine) and a topical corticosteroid may be needed. Please consult  a dermatologist as prescription is needed for steroids.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your dermatologist. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
