my scalp itches periocially...somtimes i will go for 3 or 4 days , and no problems.....then it starts itching.....sometimes its part of my head, or just in sections. It sometimes feels as if something is crawling before it starts..i have had my head checked for lice and such an there is none..i have used all the shampoos for itching scalp, even what the dr prescribed...now im on lorazepam 1 to 3 times a day. at first it seemed to help, but now it doesnt!!!any ideas or suggestions..thanks..sometimes im up all night with it...

hmm...I have seborrheic dermatitis of the scalp caused by a fungus and my symptoms sound a lot like what you have, but I have managed to keep mine relatively under control with the use of medicated shampoos and occasionally steroid solutions.  You say you have tried prescription shampoos, but have you tried Loprox shampoo, containing the antifungal ciclopiroxolamine, or Capex steroid shampoo?  If not, give those a try, and maybe ask your doctor for Lidex, a steroid solution you can apply to itchy areas of the scalp at any time of day to reduce inflammation and itching.  I know from experience how frustrating it can be to treat skin problems, but my best advice is just keep trying until you find something that works, because chances are good that there is something out there.  good luck
