scar from ingrown hair.

I recently had a very bad ingrown hair on my lower stomach. I managed to get the hair out but it was very deep so I had to pick at it a lot to get it out (something that I know I shouldn't of done) so the wound had a hole in it. It has healed now but it has left a round scar. the outside of the scar is is a red/pink colour and there is a slight indent in the middle from where I dug to get the hair out, which is red. It is smooth to touch and not raised but i'm very pale so it is really noticable. I have started using scar serum on it but i don't know if it will make a difference. Will the scar fade over time?

Without treatment, this scar usually takes about 6 months to resolve and for the skin color to go back to its normal color.  Topical treatments with acids and chemical peels can be effective but can take a while for the skin to totally revert to its normal color.  Microdermabrasion can also be done, but this might require several sessions.  Skin resurfacing using lasers is also an option.
