scarring from freezing of warts

by scarred, Aug 17, 2005 12:00AM
I have HPV and have had 2 minor outbreaks. Both times i had the wart clusters frozen off. The problem is that i seem to scar very easily and the area is very discolored. I now have 6 very noticeable dark "spots" on the shaft. I am extremeley concerned about this as they are quite conspicuous. Is there anything I can do to reduce the discoloration? And if not is there any safe way to mask it (e.g. i'd even use foundation makeup if i need to)?

Also, the second outbreak of warts was caused because I shaved an area of pubic hair and spread it from an small unseen wart. It seemed that the new warts came up where hair follicles were. The woman at the clinic of course told me "don't do that anymore". The problem is that i have some (although not many and very spread out)  hairs that grow up the shaft and even near the tip of my penis and i have always shaved them. Is there another way I can safely remove these few hairs without risk of spreading warts? Seems like home waxing would work. Your thoughts?

Thanks

Marks left after freezing go away slowly, but they go away, and they do so by themselves.  The less you do to them, the faster they'll go.  Makeup is fine if you want to use it.

Warts don't spread by shaving.  If they came after you shaved, it wasn't because you shaved.  I think you may be overinterpreting pigmented spots in the follicle openings at the base of shaved hair shafts as warts.  You might want to check this out in person so you don't worry needlessly.

I have never seen hairs at or near the tip of penis.

You may be better off not removing the hairs so you don;t worry about dark spots.

Best.
