I did go to the ER and they put me on prednisone and atarax but that did not work. i look like a freak of nature and i am in pain. i can not sleep because i itch so bad and when i do fall asleep i wake up itching and blood all over. i am terrified that i will get a staff infection because of the sores i have all over. i beg for any help you can give me. i should also mention that before some of the itching starts i break out in huge hives. the size of quarters. these welts don't always appear when i itch.

Hello,
Since you are having pedal and ankle edema and now parasthesias( tingling , numbness etc), so definitely it needs to be investigated. Ankle edema can be due to problems with blood flow like DVT can impair normal circulation and lead to swelling around the ankles, pregnancy, obesity, and varicose veins.  Edema can be caused by a serious condition of the kidney, heart, liver or blood vessels, but many other factors can contribute to its onset, including: Eating a poor diet high in salt and carbohydrates , Abusing laxatives, diuretics, drugs, sodium retention, varicose veins, allergic reactions and neuromuscular disorders.

Chronic paresthesia indicates a problem with the functioning of neurons. Parasthesias are common in alcoholics and metabolic disorders like diabetes, hypothyroidism, and hypoparathyroidismThey can also be due to peripheral vascular disease, vitamin B12 deficiency or malnutrition.

Get your blood sugar and thyroid hormones levels evaluated. You can take some vit B12 for some days and see if the tingling is gone or not. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.

i went to my doctors and he cant figure it out. he said its not any kind of dermatitis and since Ive had it progressing for a year its not scabies. he said it looks just like it but because no one else is getting it it cant be it. im now having it spread to my face and neck and my scalp is raw to like the rest of my body. and the sores are getting worse!! now i have a new symptom and i dont know what to do...My feet are swelling so bad i can walk. im retaining water or something in them because i can leave an indentation in my feet. its all the way around my ankles to my toes and it feels like needles when i walk. i have elevated them and it dont work im drinking water like its going out of style and thats not working either. im so scared and my family doctor isn't concerned with my feet and has sent me to a dermatologist on the 26th of this month. im also noticing parts of my body going numb, my nose and my toes. its like they are asleep but no feeling its weird.

Hello,
One of the possibilities for your symptoms is atopic dermatitis. Atopic allergy is a type of immediate hypersensitivity in humans resulting from spontaneous sensitization, usually by inhaled or ingested antigens; for example, asthma, hay fever, or hives. Diagnosis of allergies is done by skin ***** or patch tests and confirmation is done by blood tests like RAST.

The most important treatment for allergies is avoidance of the allergen.
Other treatment options include oral antihistaminics like benadryl and Claritin or non sedating antihistaminics like zyrtec; Topical or oral decongestants for rhinitis and nasal congestion; topical steroids for skin rashes and itching; oral steroids in more severe cases and bronchodilators in cases of difficulty in breathing and wheezing.

These medications all help to relieve short term symptoms of allergic reactions. However, there is a way of preventing the long term symptoms of allergies. This is through a process known as immunology, more commonly referred to as an allergy shot. You need to consult a dermatologist and get it evaluated. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
