shinning skin

by Eric, Apr 12, 2000 12:00AM
I think I have some kind of skin infection, maybe fungus. I don't know what it is.
Skin under my eyes, just on my lower eyelids, has a shinning color, it shines like it is wet.

Few weeks ago I was cleaning very old dirty stuff, lots of dirt flying in the air, the dirt got into my eyes, I scratched and later my lower eyelids got swollen, it got back to normal after few hours, and then few days later I noticed the shinning stuff on my lower eyelids.
It doesn't wipe off, it's like there is some very thin layer of this shinning skin, and I think my lower eyelids are not as thin as they were before, they still look little swollen along the edges.

It's not very visible from the distance, and it's not that big,
but when I look closely I definitely see the change and the shinning.

Can you tell me what it could be and how to treat it?

Thanks you

Eric:

There may be some irritation of the thin and sensitive skin under your eyes, perhaps from the dust or the rubbing.  Try applying OTC 1% hydrocortisone plus Lubriderm lotion twice a day each for 10 days.  Otherwise, leave it alone and don't rub.  Wash gently with a glycerin soap.  If it's not gone, a dermatologist can take care of it for you.

Best.

eric-
have you ever noticed when you sprain your ankle or something and when the swelling goes down, the skin in shiny and usually smooth to the touch?  i think it has something to do with the fluid pushing against the skin and stretching it or something.  don't be concerned - just keep a watch on it
