skin irritation on left side of penis

Four months ago I had unprotected sex with a women on two occasions.  I was just divorced.  One month later, I visited my doctor to get tested for all STDs.  All checked out negative.  Doctor examined me for genital warts and herpes.  Nothing was consistent with either.  Throughout the past four months I have had these small, shallow ulcer-like spots and/or skin tears under the head of my penis and on the left-shaft that cause serious irritation and tenderness (I'm not sure if my anxiety and stress adds to the effect).  No itching occurs, no pus or discharge.  It doesn't hurt to pee.  I have no pain in my abdomen or elsewhere in my genital area.  I have never once seen a blister form or an ulcer result from a blister.  My GP and dermatologist on separate occasions say I show no signs of herpes, including the small ulcer-like spots. I asked if I should get a Herpes Select test and they said I could but it was unncessary. My dermatologist requested I use Cortizone cream for two weeks. My dermatologist says my skin condition is not bacteria-related.  What could it be? I've had eczema in my face and shoulders that require using Vanicream.  I haven't had a problem in over two years.  Should I use this location on my penis?  What about irritant dermititis or shingles or aphthous ulcers or pemphigus, etc?

thanks for your feedback Blue Ice.  I went back to my dermatologist.  He said I have a mild skin irritation that requires Cortizone cream for two weeks and a switch to boxers.  My stress levels have overwhelmed my ability to be rational during this period of time.

Play it by ear then.  I'm quite sure you'll have resolution in the next few days.  For now, just keep the area clean.  Good luck! :)

Were you referring to Cortizone cream or Vanicream?  Regarding Vanicream, it's a lotion cream that is hypoallergenic.  I have to use daily on face and shoulders....really everywhere. I've never used it on my penis though.  I thought some hypoallergenic lotion down there might work.  Regarding the Crotizone cream, my dermatologist said apply it once daily for four days and then once every four days until my next appointment.

Be careful with those creams.  What could be effective on your face may have a different reaction with your private part.  Why don't you try cleaning it with antiseptics instead?
