on the skin may be due to plaque psoriasis, tinea versicolor , pityriasis alba and vitiligo. Your physician has ruled out any fungal infections. Was a microscopic evaluation of the skin scrapings done (if this is applicable)?
Tinea versicolor presents as light colored patches on the skin. They may have light central area with mild scaling present. The patches may be slightly itchy. Pityriasis alba usually affects children and may be noted as white confluent patches on their faces and on their arms.
Vitiligo is true hypopigmentation due to the absence of melanocytes or cells responsible for skin color. I suggest you discuss the possible differential of vitiligo with your doctor. Vitiligo does not tan under sun exposure.
