skin problems

My grandaughter has developed small blisters on her hands and the soles of her feet. They do not seem to be causing her any pain. What could they be? Should I seek medical advice?

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
The most important possibility that can present with such symptoms is hands, foot and mouth disease. It  is a viral disease which  causes itchy blisters on the hands, foot, mouth and legs. It is an infection that is usually caused by a virus called the coxsackie A virus. It usually affects children under 10 years of age and often starts with a feeling of being unwell for a day or so.Then there is fever and typical blisters like rash on hands, foot and inside mouth.

As with other viral infections, antibiotics are not needed.Rest, plenty of fluids and acetaminophen if there is any fever is needed.

I feel that you should consult a pediatrician and discuss it with him.
Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted on how your son is doing or if you have any additional queries.Warm regards.

Hi Sue, When my son was younger he has the same symptoms. I took him to the Dr. and was told he had Hand, Foot and Mouth disease. There is nothing you can do for it. It should  go away in 5-7 days on its own. If it starts itching which I doubt it will use calamine lotion or Benedryl. She should be fine. If its still there over a week then you should take her to the Dr. I know this because there a very, very few things that cause Blisters on the feet and palms of anyones hands. Good luck.
