This may be a hypersensitivity reaction. You may need to identify the factors that triggered this condition and avoid these as much as possible. I suggest that you ask your primary physician about this so you may be prescribed the right medications.
Antihistamines may be used to alleviate the itchiness. Avoiding the triggers is still the best way to prevent another episode.
