small red lump in pubic area

Around a month and a half ago I noticed two small lumps under my pubic hair about an inch above my penis. At first I thought they were just spots but after trying to squeeze them they became irritated and inflamed, so I left them. Since then the swelling has gone down and one has almost completely faded, but there is still a slightly red raised bit where the other one was, around 3-5mm across and flat. There doesn't seem to be a white centre, any sign of ingrown hair or pain, but there is slight itching at times. I have been checked for STI's recently and given the all clear... Any suggestions as to what this might be?

Thanks for the suggestions, if it does persist I will go and get it checked out. At the moment it is not raised or inflamed (at least it isn't noticeable), but it has been coming and going. I am incredibly hygienic and frequently use anti-bacterial soap with no real effect, so if it does come back then I shall try the creams you have recommended.

Thanks for helping,

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
Without examination, confirmation of a diagnosis is tough but it can be folliculitis, contact dermatitis, rash due to friction rub with clothes, dermatitis (atopic, contact, allergic) or excessive sweating causing sweat dermatitis . You may try calamine lotion on the rash. You should also maintain hygiene and try to keep the area clean and dry, wear loose-fitting cotton clothing. Also use an antibacterial soap or mild soap like dove .Avoid any kind of cosmetics. You can also use a mild steroid cream like dermacort on the rash. If the bumps are itchy, you  can take some antihistaminic like Benadryl or Claritin.

If the lumps persist then it will be best to get it evaluated from a dermatologist. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
