small red mark on upper lip - could it be a cold sore?

small red mark on upper lip - could it be a cold sore?

About 2 weeks ago I noticed a small red dot right above my upper lip. I was worried it was a cold sore then a few days later i noticed i tiny whitehead on it and dismissed it as a pimple. It was gone in about a week. What a relief...or so I thought.

It had seemed to disappear but then a week or 2 later on a stressful day (which I ate alot of chocolate if that matters) I noticed the small red mark on the exact same spot again. I say mark now because it's not raised it just seems like a blemish or discoloration. It doesn't tingle or anything but I'm worried since it appeared in the same spot...could it be like a mild cold sore? I thought about taking a pic but its not very visible, it still has me worried though. Do cold sores always tingle/hurt or can it come in mild form like I described?

I'm not sure if it's serious or if I'm just paranoid so I'd feel weird going to see a doctor...if I made an appointment I'd have to wait a couple weeks and as for as clinics go I don't know if I'm suppose to go to a sex clinic or the emergency walk in one in my town...so I'm posting here hoping to get an opinion first...

After a few days it hasn't gotten worse or anything but the mark is still there, might of faded a little bit...odd skin pigmentation...I'm hoping its a zit scar but even then its in the worst place possible...I don't know what to think about it...

Hello,
Since it is not a blister, then chances of a cold sore are less. Since it is a blemish like mark, oral melanotic macule which is a harmless condition is one such possibility. It is a small, sharply circumscribed, pigmented macule surrounded by normal-appearing skin.
You cannot remove them at home.Cryosurgery using liquid nitrogen and laser are the main treatment modalities. To confirm the diagnosis please get it examined from a dermatologist.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.

Thanks for the response

It's pretty faded now...barely visible actually if I asked someone to look at it. I looked up the condition you mentioned...the mark wasn't that dark. I should of mentioned it's more pink than red...like it matches the color of my lips.

Seems fine for now...I'll keep looking out if it comes up again...
