small red pimples on head of penis.

by jsaus, Feb 04, 2003 12:00AM
Description:< 1 mm in width, red in color, some with white caps that come to a point, slightly itchy. there are no marks that are larger than 1mm and none of them have a flat top. I am not circumcised and nothing is visible on the outer skin of my penis. The vast majority of the pimples occur on the delicate skin of the underside of the foreskin to where my head meets the shaft of the penis. There are a few marks on my head, but only 4-5.

Other Info: This has happened once before and I believe the conditions were similar, though I can not say that the connection is absolute. I have recently been having much more frequent sex (vaginal and oral) with my girlfriend because our working hours have made it much easier to do so. Because she has recently gone on the pill, the sex has been unprotected. Furthermore, she recently noticed something that she thought might be a cold sore on her lip - though it never developed into anything, so we thought nothing of it.

I am thinking this is a rash, perhaps due to not cleansing the area well enough after sex, and was thinking of seeing my physician if things don't clear up in a week or so. However, I wanted thoughts on trying to get in earlier if this is likely an STD.

Doesn't sound like an STD.  There are often small cystic lesions in the area you describe.  Perhaps friction from sex has made them somewhat redder and more visible.  I don't think cleaning has anything to do with it.

I would suggest lubricating your penis before and after sex, and by all means show your doctor if the bumps persist, just so you'll know for sure.

Take care.
