spots after a jock itch medication

by Jessica C., Dec 06, 2000 12:00AM
About 4 weeks ago my boyfriend developed severe jock itch. He was treated with a lotrizone cream and it went away. However it came back and the doctor gave him an oral medication called Ketoconazole which was to be stronger. Sure the rash went away but now on his inner thighs (both sides) and underneath the scrotum there are medium sized red streaks (similar to stretch marks but red) and spots. It looks like it is only on the skin and there is no itching or pain. I wonder if it is a reaction to the medication or something worse?

Jessica:

If it's under the scrotum, it's probably just irritation.  Have him try 1% hydrocortisone and Lubriderm lotion, twice a day each.  Should go away in 10 days or less.  If not, have him see a doc.

Best.
