staph infection

by Jeni898, Aug 21, 2008 01:04PM
I was told 2 days ago that i have staph infection.  It started in what I thought was a pimple on my face, but when the heads multiplied I went to the ER and he told me it was very early staph infection and that my infection level was only at 9%.  He administered 300mg intravenous Zyvox and sent me home with Bactrim and Doxycycl. I have been taking the antibiotic and the effected area has not gotten any worse, (just itches like crazy) but i have a swelling in my top lip, not far from where it originated, but its not irritated, red, painful, or even bothersome, it just feels funny.  It actual seems like fluid retention.  My question is, is this a normal side effect of staph infection and if so then why and what is it?

Staph infection seems to have a mind of it's own. I have dealt with them atleast a year. The swelling near the site, is most likely another one . Did the one he treated drain or did he lance it? They fill with pus, so they need to drain. It will come back in the same spot if not totally cleared. They are stubborn as far as clearing them up. I started with one on a bikini scar, then another, then moved to groin area, crack of my leg, my rectum, one eye, got it cleared went to other eye and back to the other before cleared, meaning it was in both eyes together the last time. It is a bacterial infection. I have been told it is contagious, it is not contagious, it will show in your blood, it won't show in your blood unless it is that strain that they can't control I think it is MRSA, but then I would have my vital organs shutting down. The information came from drs, and I even called the Infectious Disease dr.. So, I have come to the conclusion they don't know all about it either. I do know it is hard to stop it once it starts. You can treat it with hydrogen peroxide, taking a Q-tip and rubbing it trying to bring it to a head and drain it, while continuously using the peroxide. Then a new one comes up. I hope yours clears up and you don't have them again.
