staph

staph

Hi,

Two month ago I had my daughter's ears pierced. After these two months she developed a little lump on the back of her earlobe next the the ear piercing.  In about two weeks the lump filled with pus.  I took the earring out and took her to the doctor. they said she had staph but not the one that was drug resistant.  They told me to use an over the counter antibiotic cream (bacitracin). everything was fine. the lump did shrink and there was no more pus visible, but the back of her earlobe was still red and you could feel a little bump under the skin.  Now after two weeks the lump is back. it's filled with pus again. it looks like  a pimple and i know it will get big again.
so obviously the cream didn't cure it completely. i guess the infection was still under her skin.
can we get rid of this completely ? do you think she'll have to take antibiotics ??
How likely is it for the infection to get in her blood? i heard this can be very dangerous! Would I know if it is in her bloodstream ? she hasn't had  a fever so far and she does act happy.
also, did i make a mistake by taking the earring out ? i tried to reinsert it but it would not go back in, it actually caused her ear to bleed when i tried to push the earring back in.
So now she has no earring and the hole is closing. Could that trap the infection in the hole ?
I would appreciate some advice. I need to calm my nerves and be reassured that everything will be fine.

Thank yoU!
