stinging sensation to heat - eczema?

Hello.

I'm a 30 years old female. I've been having a skin problem and I really want to know what it is.

Here's how whole thing started:
- One day I noticed red rashes on my arms and legs after doing yard work (June 2010)
- I saw a general doctor and took antihistamine. No progress. I took antibiotics (bactrim) for one week but I got a terrible drug rash from it.
- The hospital finally let me see a dermatologist. They did the biopsy on me but only found the drug rash, not the original rash. The dermatologist thinks the original rash is follicular eczema (although she didn't get to actually see my original rash). She gave me a steroid shot.

By the end of 2010, my rashes die down mostly but my skin looks like I have goose bumps. Now I get a stinging sensation whenever my body gets hot. When I'm under the sun, when I exercise, or when I drink, my body (especially my back) stings. My body gets itchy sometimes and I find white bumps (like mosquito bite but white) but they disappear within a day.

I have rheumatoid arthritis since 2002 and I've been taking plaquenil from the beginning. I've been taking sprintec for at least 5 years.

I'm not sure if this symptom is due to eczema or some kind of thyroid or hormonal issue.
I would greatly appreciate any suggestion or opinion on this. Thank you!

Thank you so much for your response, Dr Kaur.
I looked into cholinergic urticaria and it seems to match my condition.
I'll visit my doctors for the official diagnosis.

Thank you.

Hello,
It looks like cholinergic urticaria. It is a form of chronic hives that is caused by an increase in body temperature but can be idiopathic also. Take some antihistaminic like Benadryl or Claritin and apply some calamine lotion on the hives. If the symptoms persist then please get it examined from a dermatologist.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
