strange rash...uncertain and worried

by s544698, Mar 30, 2005 12:00AM
Hey doc,
I have this rash on my penis, and I am not sure what to make of it...don't know if it is an STD or what.  The last time I had sex was about 7 weeks ago.  I used a condom, but it broke and I replaced it after it did.  Some time after I had sex, I masterbated freequently.  After about a week of regular masterbation (masturbation), I noticed a couple patches of dry skin in a couple of places under the head of my penis.  The skin flaked off and then would come back.  I tried applying some hand lotion, but the dry skin kept comming back.

After the dry skin eventally went away, I tried masterbating (masturbating) again, and after doing so the area that used to by dry was now a little red/pink and puffy.  I didn't masterbate after that for over a week, and I occationally applied a little bacitracin on the area.  The puffiness went away, but the area was still pink (it almost looked scarred).  I figured whatever it was went away, but today I was "dry-humping" with my new girlfriend, and after I got home I saw that those areas of my penis were dark red.  This is the worst it has looked.

It looks like it would be painfull, but it is not. There is no blood, scabbing, or open sores.  This has been going on for about 5 weeks, and I would appreciate it if you could let me know what you thought. Thanks

I think you have irritation of the penis.  Try using some over-the-counter 1% hydrocortisone twice a day for a few days.  Friction like your recent encounter with your new girlfriend can make red spots redder, but that isn't bad.  If the rash persists, show it to a doctor, but it doesn't sound like an STD.

Best.
