stretch marks

by Jamila, Feb 08, 2000 12:00AM
I heard that vitamin E oil will remove stretch marks off the skin. I am 21 years old and have stretch marks from normal growth close to my buttocks which makes it hard to wear a bikini. What can i do to get rid of these marks?

by Alan Rockoff, MD, Feb 08, 2000 12:00AM
Jamila:

Stretch marks are very hard to remove.  They start out red and gradually lighten over time.  Be skeptical of claims for creams, exercises, vitamins, and lasers which people claim as effective.  You need rose-colored glasses to think they are.

best.

I've had stretch marks that have already lightened but to the best of my knowledge I had the understanding that there was no way for my skin to ever recover.  I'm I wrong?  If so please tell me what I can do to get rid of them.

I have strecth marks on my butt, arms and abdomen can you please give me some advice on how to get rid of them.

by StretchMark Cures, May 25, 2000 12:00AM
Most Stretch Marks will never go away but will lighten with time.  There are some claims that Micro Dermabrasion (crystals or salt) may lighten them.  This is painful and a rarity.  However, there is a new procedure on the market which does help reduce the stretchmarks.  Ask your dermatologist about it.  It is called SkinMaster Plus.  It is completely painless, includes a peeling, moisturizing and can also be used to prevent and treat wrinkles.  Even the deep ones.  I have used the product, I found a plastic surgeon who uses it (in california) and i loved it.  I can't wait to go back for more.  Everyone should try it.  If your doc doesn't have it, keep looking.  It is out there.

I am a 17 year old teenager, I am about 6'4 and 225 pounds.  I have stretch marks all over my body from the backs of my knees to my back and my chest.I am wondering If it is to late to get rid of them, and what are some of the ways I might beable to help them go away.  I am afraid to even take my shirt off in front of people.  I can't even stand to look at myself in the mirror any more.  I heard people talking about how laser surgery can help remove them, and I was wondering how much it costs.  I don't think Ican go through life trying to hide my body under long pants and shirts, but I am to embarrassed to tell my mom and father.  I am in desparate need of help, please somebody respond

I am 15, male, 6', and 300 lbs. Although most of my weight is muscle, I have stretch marks on my upper arms and chest. Of course, I do not find them attractive, and have yet to find a girl that does. I have read a lot of information and have asked many people, and they all say that they will fade. Well.. BIG DEAL!!! If they fade they will still be there and noticeable. Laser surgery? Unless you have a good couple of thousands of dollars, forget it. You just have to accept that they will be there, just like your birthmarks. All I can say is if someone doesn't like you because you have them.. I guess they have a worse problem than you. Besides looks, what major threat are they? Thanks& good luck

Guys, men do get stretch marks, stretch marks are not only for women.  Men just do not like to tell other people that they have stretch marks.  Anybody that grows in some way faster than their skin cells can divide can get stretch marks.  For the girl who's considering not going to prom because of this, prom is going to be in a room where the lights are half lit and it'll be a night so no one will notice.  If you want to cover them up use a little bit of concealer and powder like you do on your face.

I have very bad strech marks on my thighs and butt and im only 50kg. Im using a cream called STRETCH~AWAY so far they have become lighter and less raised. The only thing about this is it takes time and in 8-12 weeks you should start to see a change, you should be able to buy this product in any health shop.

Stretch marks sure are annoying.  I'm 15, rather slim and tall, and they're all over the place.  I'm penalized for going through a terrible growth spurt...lol!  What has life come to...sigh...
